Locks Park is a small traditional 85 acre organic farm on the Culm measures near Hatherleigh, Devon, where we’ve been for the last 16 years. My name is Paula, and I run a suckler herd of Devon Red Ruby cattle and a small flock of Whiteface Dartmoor sheep. It’s beautiful, rewarding but extremely hard work.

I don’t come from a farming background and graduated with an art degree. I first worked in London designing jewellery, supplementing my income as a photographic and clothes model. It all started in my twenties when I moved out into the countryside, went shopping for a table and came home with a goat! Since then I have been farming for over 30 years.

I’ve four sons and my husband, Rob, helps me with the farm when he’s not doing his day job. Over the years I’ve set up several successful business enterprises related to food and farming, and currently I’m also working a day a week at a friend’s boutique in Exeter - which I am thoroughly enjoying.
