Paula and cowLocks Park is a small traditional 85 acre organic farm on the Culm measures near Hatherleigh, Devon, where we’ve been for the last 16 years. My name is Paula, and I run a suckler herd of Devon Red Ruby cattle and a small flock of Whiteface Dartmoor sheep. It’s beautiful, rewarding but extremely hard work.

I don’t come from a farming background and graduated with an art degree. I first worked in London designing jewellery, supplementing my income as a photographic and clothes model. It all started in my twenties when I moved out into the countryside, went shopping for a table and came home with a goat! Since then I have been farming for over 30 years.

I’ve four sons and my husband, Rob, helps me with the farm when he’s not doing his day job. Over the years I’ve set up several successful business enterprises related to food and farming, and currently I’m also working a day a week at a friend’s boutique in Exeter – which I am thoroughly enjoying.

Locks Park Farm

Thanks for visiting my blog. All entries are presented in chronological order.

I have a small organic farm on the Culm grasslands near Hatherleigh in Devon, with sheep and beef cattle. I've been farming in the county for more than 30 years. I've set up this blog to share views on farming and the countryside - please do give your thoughts.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England has helped set up this blog. We want farming to thrive in England, and believe that it is essential that people understand farming and farmers better in order for that to happen. Paula's views expressed here are her own and we won't necessarily share all of them, but we're happy to have helped give her a voice.
